Inclusive project implementation requires a strong understanding of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles across all stages of the project cycle. Integrating GESI considerations helps ensure that development interventions are equitable, participatory, and responsive to the needs of diverse groups, including women, the poor, and marginalized communities. For ADB-assisted projects in Nepal, mainstreaming GESI is essential for achieving transformative development results, improving project performance, and ensuring that the benefits of investments reach all population groups.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) emphasizes the importance of embedding GESI into project design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting. ADB’s policies, strategies, and operational frameworks provide clear guidance for addressing gender inequalities and social exclusion through targeted actions and measurable results. However, implementing agencies in Nepal often face difficulties in effectively applying GESI principles, preparing and monitoring GESI action plans, and fulfilling reporting requirements aligned with ADB standards.
This training program has been designed to build the knowledge and skills of GESI focal staff engaged in ADB-supported projects, enabling them to effectively apply GESI concepts, tools, and frameworks. Through a combination of technical sessions, group exercises, case discussions, and presentations, participants will gain practical insights into GESI analysis, mainstreaming strategies, action plan implementation, and reporting of results.
